In response to the increased demand for clean renewable energy, the
current administration has identified tens of millions of acres of
public lands that are suitable for renewable energy development. Despite
current approval initiatives and increased agency cooperation, the
process of federal lands development remains frustratingly long and
complex. As the process of development evolves, it remains imperative
that developers and stakeholders have a firm understanding of the laws
and a clear strategy of compliance throughout the development process,
and that all interested parties are engaged.
This conference will address the new and significant issues facing
renewable energy developments on federal lands. Participants will
navigate the legal, financial, and technical labyrinth of siting and
developing these projects. The conference will guide participants
through the complex permitting and environmental review processes while
discussing applicable federal and state laws. The conference also will
cover substantive law updates on public land access, transmission,
siting, and cultural resource issues. Additionally, it will bring
together relevant stakeholders to provide a clear guide for successful
development projects. Finally, those who have successfully sited
development projects on federal lands will provide valuable insights
into the process and discuss how to balance the conflicting objectives
of energy development and land conservation.
