S&C Electric Company announces that the company is now a registered Green Suppliers Network Partner. This milestone continues S&C’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities and meet the growing demand for sustainable manufacturing.
The Green Suppliers Network is a collaborative venture of industry, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The network, funded by the U.S. EPA, assists manufacturers in improving business processes to increase energy efficiency and minimize waste. S&C recently completed a technical assessment consisting of a lean review, a clean review, an energy audit and a greenhouse gas evaluation to confirm that S&C is a green partner.
S&C also announces that its Chicago campus officially meets the ISO 140001:2004 Environmental Management Standards. This standard provides a framework for handling an organization’s environmental policy, plans, and actions, in order to help companies minimize the environmental impact of their operations. A recent audit of S&C’s Chicago operations, performed by accredited certification body NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd., determined that S&C’s environmental management system is in conformance with the ISO 140001:2004 Environmental Management Standard.
“Sustainability is a major focus at S&C, and we actively work to ensure our business activities promote positive environmental outcomes,” says S&C Chairman and CEO John Estey. “Both our accreditation as a Green Suppliers Network partner and our ISO 14001 compliance demonstrate S&C’s firm commitment to environmental leadership.”
