Trion Industries, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of display and scanning hooks, is saving more than 76% per year in total lighting costs due to a SmartWatt Energy, Inc. lighting retrofit at their corporate headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, PA. SmartWatt conducted a construction-grade energy audit of the corporate headquarters--including offices, a manufacturing plant and a shipping facility--then designed a value-engineered plan to replace Trion Industries’ existing metal halide, sodium vapor and fluorescent lighting system with an energy-efficient fluorescent lighting system. The lighting retrofit project will pay for itself in less than 13 months.
“We’re proud to have always been in the forefront of environmentally conscious business operations. The decision to upgrade and replace the lighting with SmartWatt was an easy one—they’re the best in the business,” said Don Hislop, Safety/Maintenance/Tool Room Director at Trion Industries. “We were left with a brighter, safer, more environmentally-friendly facility.”
The new energy-efficient lighting, installed by SmartWatt, will save $81,794 and 870,000 kWh of electricity per year. The project came with utility & tax incentives of $55,580, which SmartWatt facilitated as part of their turnkey service. This energy saving project has removed pollutants from the air and will have the same effect on the environment as removing 2 million pounds of greenhouse gases or planting 300 acres of trees.
